Big Chaos I

A little chaos never hurt anyone.  How about a big chaos?  As in, this end grain cutting board, the Big Chaos I.  How about three different kinds of hardwood all cut into random pieces and somehow perfectly put together into the ultimate chef’s tool?

Embrace The Chaos

How many ways can you cut pieces of wood and still have them fit together perfectly? – Apparently about a million. This end grain cutting board has three very complimentary species: Yellow heart, hard maple, and sapele, a mahogany cousin.  The stunning chaotic look of the cutting board comes from precision cutting and gluing repeatedly until  the pattern you see emerges.  Hours of craftsmanship goes into this unique board, even more than most of our creations.  Deep handholds have been carefully cut from the short sides of the cutting board to make it easy to lift, move, and place your prize kitchen tool.  Four rubber feet, attached with stainless steel screws, provide stability and counter top grip while also saving your end grain cutting board from sitting in standing water.  A carefully beveled edge around the entire top edge provides a look of precision craftsmanship.
