Founder’s Collection

Series 1

Introducing our first Founders Collection end grain cutting board, The Ember.

A Cutting Board Can Be More

We’ve made a lot of cutting boards. But for the Founders Collection, another beautiful board wasn’t enough.

We wanted to push the craft further, to create something as functional as it is striking, where every detail has a reason for being there. A board that makes prep easier, feels substantial beneath the knife, and earns its place on the countertop even when the cooking is done.

The result is The Ember, the first release of the Mez Woodworks Founders Collection. Built differently. Made only eight times. Never to be made again.

The cutting board that changes what a cutting board can be.

Designed to Move

Diagonal Rows.  Diamond Cut Corners.

Traditional end-grain boards are built around straight rows. Ember turns them on an angle. Diagonal lines move across the surface and into precision-cut diamond corners, creating a design that looks different from every direction.

Three Woods. One Design.

Black Walnut
Deep, rich tones form the foundation of Ember.

Hard Maple
Natural contrast defines and frames the geometric pattern.

Padauk
Deep red accents add the flashes of warmth that inspired the name Ember.

Prep Without the Mess

Chop. Gather. Slide.

Ember features a purpose-built cutout that allows prep bowls to sit directly beneath the cutting surface. Chop your ingredients, sweep them straight from the board into the waiting bowl, and keep your workspace clean.

Designed for the Way You Cook

No lifting the board. No transferring ingredients by hand. No chasing chopped onions across the counter.

Just prep, slide, and keep cooking.

Elevated by Design

Solid brass feet lift Ember above the countertop, giving the board its distinctive profile while creating the space needed for the integrated prep bowls.

Rubber contact points provide a secure grip and protect the surface beneath, combining form and function down to the smallest detail.

Made From the End Up

Ember is built end grain up, exposing the natural fibers of the wood to create a surface that’s exceptionally durable and easier on your knives.

Creating it takes time. Each board is built, cut apart, rotated, and assembled again before being shaped, sanded, and finished by hand.

It’s the harder way to build a cutting board. We think it’s worth it.

One of Eight

Only eight Ember boards will ever be made.

Each is individually numbered 01/08 through 08/08, marking its place in the first series of the Mez Woodworks Founders Collection.

When they’re gone, Ember is complete. This design will never be produced again.

Eight boards. One release. Never again.
